Announcements

Prayers from Westminster for Africa – July 2009: Pick up today a tri-fold brochure which includes prayers written by participants at the African Spring Dinner on April 4 and by the Reverends Paul Randall and Kathryn Shaffer. It is hoped that as people in both Ghana and the Albany area read the Bible, pray and study during July they will remember the Westminster Medical Mission Team.

Do you have a gift for arranging flowers or would you like to try your hand at something new? As part of the Board of Deacons’ ministry of calling and caring, flowers donated on Sundays are arranged for delivery. The Deacons are seeking volunteers to prepare flower arrangements directly following worship services on a regular basis. Flower arrangers would be responsible for removing the flower vases from the Sanctuary after the service, arranging flowers in vases, and carrying the arrangements downstairs, where Deacons will then take them for delivery. If you are interested, or would like more information about this volunteer position, please call the church office.

FOCUS on Schools: You are encouraged to pick up a shopping list from the Chestnut Street hall table and keep it handy as you shop and encounter sales over the summer. Items can be dropped off at the food pantry located at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 275 State Street, Albany, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. If you have questions you may speak to Mary Jean Tedrow.

Summer Parties at Schuyler Inn: There will be three Tuesday night parties at Schuyler for families and veterans over the summer, with coloring book pages for kids, followed by Bingo. Irene Harbison of Delmar Presbyterian Church is organizing the July 28 party. See Marianne Rings or Lois Wilson if you are willing to be a summer party volunteer.

FOCUS Interfaith Food Pantry: During the month of June Westminster is asked to donate tampons and sanitary napkins. Donations may be left in the bin located in the Chestnut Street hallway.
