We received an e-mail from Jim Thomas in Ghana:

Lois and Frances have arrived and spent a restful night. Heading for church at Faith Presbyterian Church Shiashie.

Beautiful morning.

Praise the lord!

One of the reasons I discerned a call to serve at Westminster was the strong connection with Ghana. Now here I am, only 7 months on the job, and leaving for Ghana on Friday.

In preparation for my departure, I looked up the weather forecast for the capital, Accra. Guess what: it's the rainy season!

I actually don't mind the rain. When I lived in India, the rainy season was my favorite time of the year because the air was cool, and the moss grew in abundance.

We will be doing many things in Ghana. But, the most important aspect of our trip is just being present. We will listen to Ghanaians, stay in their homes, pray with them and laugh with them. Our presence will speak volumes of our commitment to foster deep relationships based on equal partnership and will mean more than any check we send.

I leave in less than 48 hours. The rest of the team will join us later.

We'll see you on the flip side!
