Early
Accomplishments: Marion Schenck Rising graduated from Albany High School in 1926. She was
Secretary of the Senior Class and was a member of both the Theda Alpha Literary
Society and Barbarossa German Society.
Family
:
Marion was married to Guy Rising from
1932 until his death in 1964. The Risings had two daughters, and both daughters
graduated with honors and masters degrees in bacteriology and social science,
respectively. There are four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Career:
After high school, Marion worked for the New York Telephone Company
Accounting Department for seven years and then became a full-time homemaker and
volunteer.
Volunteer
Activities:
Starting in 1964, Marion has volunteered
at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. She chaired the Library Committee for
five years. From 1970 to 1998 has continued as a regular Medical Center
volunteer.
Mrs.
Rising has been an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1950.
She been a member of the Junior and Service Guilds for 45 years; the Guilds do
sewing for the Albany Medical Center. Marion has also been ordained as a Deacon
at Westminster; a responsibility which involves caring for members who are
confined to home or other housing.
Marion
has also been a caregiver within her own family - caring for two aunts and an
uncle for 20 years, her father-in-law for eight years, an ill husband for one
year, and her sister for the past three years.

Marion is
caring, concerned, interesting, very efficient and fun to be with.
