When was the last time you had this much fun?

                            Christian Education

                            Picture
"Teach me your way O Lord,
and I will walk in your truth"

                            Psalm 86:11

At Westminster we highly value the christian education of our children. From the time they enter the church-- at baptism until they leave our nest, our priority is teaching them the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ.

                            Children in Worship

                            Picture
Part of Christian Education is learning how to participate in the weekly worship service in the sanctuary.

All children are welcome in the sanctuary!

To keep restless hands busy, we provide a weekly children’s bulletin plus crayons and other quiet activities that children can enjoy in the pews. Families have the option to have their children sit in the “Children’s Pew”.

In order to maintain a spiritual atmosphere for all, we do request that all electronic devices be turned off during worship and church events (except for emergency use).

We like to involve children and youth in the worship service. We actively recruit our young people to be junior ushers, acolytes, steeple bell ringers (a kid favorite!) and occasionally lay readers.

                            Nursery Care

                            Picture
Shirley Diven lovingly staffs our nursery with help from Westminster volunteers. Crib room care is available from 9:00 am through 12:15pm each Sunday, and for most program events during the week, including special services in Advent or Lent. The Crib Room welcomes infants through Kindergarteners.

                            Sunday Morning Church School

                            Picture
All students from pre-k through high school are invited upstairs, to the classrooms on the third floor for church school after the Sunday Worship Service.

For our  youngest church school class, children from 4 to 7 years old, we have the Godly Play program. The children experience their own worship time and place, with special storytelling, songs, Scripture reading, art response time and a “feast”. The children hear the traditional Bible stories told in a unique style, learn how to worship, and have the opportunity to respond to the stories through creative play and individual art creation time.

The Older Elementary Class uses the “We Believe” curriculum published by the Presbyterian Church (USA). This fall quarter, the children will learn about some key relationships in the Old Testament: Adam and Eve; Cain and Abel; Jacob and Esau; Miriam and Moses; Samuel and Eli; David and Goliath; David and Abigail; Elisha and the Widow; Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego, Jonah and God. This class is for 3rd – 6th graders.
