Volunteer - Winter 2012
_We are a
community-minded congregation that reaches out to those in need all
around the Capital District. Join us in service to our neighbors.
FOCUS Neighborhood Feeding Programs:
The Winter Breakfast Program continues through April. We serve a hot breakfast three days a week, Tuesday-Thursday, from 7 to 9 a.m. The Winter Breakfast Program ends in April. Volunteers are needed. If you are interested and have the gift of rising early and cheerfully in the morning, we want to talk with you. Please call Paula Hennessy at the FOCUS office, 443-0460, or email: info@focuschurches.net.
In May, the program will transition to Breakfast Express, offering lighter fare for the summer months. For more information or to volunteer, contact the FOCUS office.
The Food Pantry (housed at Emmanuel Baptist) needs drivers. Please contact the FOCUS office if you are interested. Please call Paula Hennessy at the FOCUS office, 443-0460, or email: info@focuschurches.net.
Schuyler Inn Homeless Shelter:
Help is needed at the Menands site running Bingo and Family Parties throughout the year. If you can help, please contact Lois Wilson through Westminster.
Also, there is an after school program to help children with homework and offer an extra layer of support for the children. Please contact Westminster office to be put in touch with this team.
Emergency Overflow Shelter:
Volunteers help settle guests in at the First Lutheran Site (646 State St). For the three hour shift (7-10 PM) volunteers assist shelter staff with a variety of tasks. Volunteers are needed to provide Sunday night meals for the shelter guests. Generally, a large dish that can serve 20 people and some side items are provided. If interested, please contact the Westminster office.

Hospitality/Greeting: Volunteers help with greeting at events here at church such as First Friday Events and organ concerts. Please contact the church office for more information.
