Westminster Church is home to a lively Ministry of Music and Arts. Here at Westminster, artistic and musical experiences are recognized as being vital to the health and development of the spiritual life of the individual and the community. Whenever humans engage in creative activity, whether through word, music, liturgy, or the material arts, we experience, in a special way, our connectedness to each other and to the God who created and sustains us all.
The Ministry of Music and Arts
The Westminster Choir wants you! We rehease every Thursday evening (with few exceptions) from September till June, and sing every Sunday morning (with few exceptions). In addition to our regular Sunday duties, the choir also sings at special worship services (Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, FOCUS services) and we periodically present larger-scale choral works, often accompanied by small orchestra or other ensemble. We have singers of all levels. Join us in making a joyful noise to the Lord! Contact the church office for more information.
The Westminstrels Handbell Choir will be starting rehearsals soon. We're an intergenerational group of ringers who meet weekly several times a year for 4-5 weeks at a time to prepare musical offerings for worship services. We play on two sets of Malmark handbells (5-octave and 3-octave), as well as a 3-octave set of Suzuki ToneChimes. (New ringers are always welcome: an ability to read music is helpful but not essential.) Contact the church office for more information.
