Volunteers Needed for the Emergency Overflow Homeless Shelter

April 30, 2020

OPEN THROUGH LATE APRIL

The Emergency Overflow Homeless Shelter, operated by the Capital Area Council of Churches at First Lutheran Church in Albany, opened its doors again for the season in mid-November to serve up to 19 men each night of the week. The Shelter is scheduled to remain open through April. See more details about this volunteer opportunity by visiting this web address:  http://www.wpcalbany.org/capital-region

Westminster provides volunteer services on Sunday nights throughout the cold season. Volunteers serve on a rotating schedule. There are two great options for getting involved in this ministry of service to homeless men in our community:

  • Provide on-site hospitality. Join the team of WPC volunteers who provide hospitality to Shelter guests on Sunday nights.

  • Prepare nourishing dinners. WPC volunteers team up to prepare meals for delivery to the Shelter on Sunday nights.

For more information or to sign-up to help, please contact Valerie Shanley at (518) 366-8747 / vshanley@nycap.rr.com or Sheila Wrede at (518) 419-7324 / smwrede@gmail.com
